An interesting site dedicated to Sankey Diagrams posted a nice article on our History of Political Parties and our civil war graphics. I highly recommend visiting this site to learn more about sankey diagrams.
From wikipedia …“Sankey diagrams are a specific type of flow diagram, in which the width of the arrows is shown proportionally to the flow quantity. They are typically used to visualize energy or material transfers between processes.”

The Genealogy of Pop/Rock Music was recently mentioned in a few blogs including:

The Sandra and Gerald Fineberg Art Wall at The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston has been transformed by Dave Muller into exhibit tracing the history of rock ‘n’ roll with drawings and sound. The major component of the exhibit is a blown-up version of Reebee Garofalo’s music information graphic The Genealogy of Pop/Rock Music. Reebee, a professor at the University of Massachusetts, created the chart in 1977 for a book called Rock ‘N’ Roll is Here to Pay: The History and Politics of the Music Industry that he coauthored with Steve Chapple in 1977.

History of the Dow Jones Industrial Average 1896 to 2008 charts the creation and evolution of one of the most important stock market indices in the world. Created by Wall Street Journal editor Charles Dow, the Dow contains the largest and most widely held public companies in the United States. In the foreground of the graphic, all 106 stocks that have been part of the Dow are graphed from the time they entered the index to the time they were dropped. In the background, the actual price of the Dow is shown allowing you to follow the great bull markets of the 1920s, 50s, 80s and 90s and the dreariness of the 1910s, 30s and 70s.
This chart was created by John Paul Koning. John Paul is a financial writer, researcher, graphic designer, trader, and artist.
